Women Write Music: A Recital
Even today, for a musician to perform a work by a female composer is the exception rather than the norm. Thanks to the Violin Music By Women anthologies, compiled and edited by violinist Cora Cooper, Claire Allen and the Allen Violin Studio are changing that. Pieces by women appear on almost all of our studio recitals, and they are presented alongside more commonly performed works such as those found in the Suzuki repertoire. It's our mission to share how much we love this music with the world and inspire other violinists to study and perform this repertoire!
On Saturday, June 4, we performed a recital ENTIRELY of works by female composers. Read on for more details and to meet the artists.
