First of all, I am happy to tell you that I will be opening a private violin studio in Arlington, Virginia in August. Many things are still in the planning stages, but this is happening! If you're interested in taking lessons with me, please use the contact form here and let me know!
My wonderful chamber music colleagues and I will be performing a recital in May. On the program is Bedrich Smetana's String Quartet No. 1, "From My Life," and Johannes Brahms' Piano Quintet.
Our quartet is also collaborating with a composer friend of ours, Nathan Ball, in the creation of a new string quartet. Nathan has been busily sketching and composing since last summer, and we'll be learning each movement of the quartet as he finishes it. This collaboration might be the source of some new blog posts this semester - we'll see. If all goes well, we'll perform the world premiere of this new quartet on a recital of Nathan's music in May (yes, probably within a week or two of our other recital!).
I am continuing my work as a violin teacher at the TWIGS program of the Baltimore School for the Arts this spring and continue to find inspiration and to be incredibly moved by the determination, motivation, and hard work of all my students. I am also continuing my pedagogy studies at Peabody and plan to further my education even more this summer by attending a workshop at Indiana University given by Mimi Zweig.
So you see, it's going to be a very busy spring as I finish up the last of my coursework and continue my life as a teacher here in Baltimore. I'll update my performance schedule as more dates are finalized, and I hope to see you at a concert this spring!
